Italy
We were passing through North Italy during October and managed to snatch some time to visit a few great places.
Venice was as beautiful as everybody says with its spectacular architecture and its warren of little winding streets full of quaint deli's selling gastronomic delights. Naturally, we did the touristy thing and took a gondola trip up the Canal Grande while pretending to believe the gondoliers tall stories about his dad starring in the Walls Cornetto adverts. October seems to be the ideal time to visit Venice because it's not so packed with tourists and the weather is perfect.
Verona is, in my opinion, an equally beautiful city, very similar in architectural style to Venice but without the water-ways. It does have plenty of other attractions of it's own such as its arena, bustling market square and, of course the alleged homes of the Montague and Capulet families of Romeo and Juliet fame.
Similar too is Vicenza; every turn has a photo opportunity and all three cities are a photographers dream. We whizzed passed Garda, lake Como and scratched the tip of Switzerland.
Definitely going to have to take more time to visit these places properly to do them justice.
